If no key, you'll have to destroy the cardboard glove box and to access the lock bracket....remove the upper bracket that the lock grabs onto located at the mid-top of the opening...may need to do a little prying....or remove the lock from the backside.
You can't remove it. It is molded in as part of the dash itself. Only the door can be removed.
If there is no adjustments on it you will have to buy a new lock from a chevelle website such as yearone.com.

First, unlock and open the glove box if possible<*>. Next, look at the back side of the lock the are two diagonal screws holding the lock assembly to the glove box door, remove the screws/bolts on the lock and remove lock assembly. <*>If you cannot open your glove box beforehand u will need a flat head screw driver to pry it open.
You could try removing a door lock, bring to a locksmith to have key made - should be the same as ignition
lock has to either opened with a key or picked to open position, then as turning clockwise to lock push up on the back side locking bar and then remove, continue tuning cw to remove lock cylinder. Unbolt the large lock nut and washer on the cylinder case to remove from glove compartment itself. Assemble in reverse order.
Open the glove box, unscrew the three screws next to the lock, tap lightly and it will come out.
Remove the bottom first. It is spring loaded. It has a couple of rods built into the bottom of it that lock into some hooked brackets on the floorpan. Push down and back to get it loose. The rear is actually quite easy once the bottom is out. Two screws at the bottom, then slide it up to unhook the top.
You will need to remove the screws holding the glove compartment on the Mini Cooper in order to open it with a broken lock mechanism. There are 5 torx screws holding it in place.
