The battery of a Mercedes Benz CL600 as of 2002 is located in the rear trunk on the passenger side.
In the right side of the trunk , behind the trunk liner ( I assume there is an access hole )
If it's the same as the 2000 it looks relatively simple. Remove the plastic trunk liner by hand and then use a socket wrench (7/16" socket- most likely) and remove 4 nuts- It should then wiggle free.
On a 2002 Mercury Sable : The fuel pump shut off switch ( inertia switch ) that has the reset button on top : ( is located in the trunk , on the passenger side of the trunk , behind the trunk liner , there is an access hole )
Pull back the liner left side of trunk. You will find a cable with a t handle. Mine fell behind the liner. Just put it thru the slit in the liner. It has a Velcro tab to hold it to the liner.
check the trunk along the sides, if your vehicle trunk has liner in it, it may be behind the liner, youll have to go to the local parts store to see if they have a layout on its exact position if its not marked on it already
You have to remove the liner from the inside of the trunk lid, then remove the connector by turning it counter clockwise, then replace the bulb, check to make sure its working, then do the reverse to put it back. There might be a screw to remove the connector, but that's only a maybe...

The 2002 Ford Escort owners manual shows : either on the right side of the trunk , behind the trunk liner or in the drivers footwell , behind the kick panel depending on application
It is in the trunk. You have to remove the you trunk carpeting and it will reveal a silver plate.. Remove that and there is your filter.
