Starter of toyota corolla and matrix is not the same. The best thing you do if you change your starter by yourself is to remove and compare to the new starter.

If its the cables inside you need to remove the panels and replace the cables. You can in a pinch just disconnect them from the handle. Then pull them to release the door.
disconnect the battery cables. find the battery clamp and remove it. Lift the battery out, then set then new one in place. Install the clamp, then connect the battery cables.
The wipers of a 2006 Toyota Matrix just clip on. To remove them bend them backwards on the joint and slide the clip off. Installation requires the wipers to be pushed in.
