Just pull the gear that is under the light switch on the left hand side under the steering wheel that looks like this ((P)).

You can remove the parking brake lever, from the brake shoe on your Chevrolet Cavalier, by removing the retaining clip. The retaining clip connects the brake lever cable to the brake shoe.

lube up the inside with wd-40 as much as possible then work it off by wiggling it from side to side
