CAUTION: Some models are equipped with anti-theft-radio make sure you have the activation code before disconnecting battery * Disconnect negative battery cable * Detach the accelerator cable from the cable guides on the valve cover (It's not necessary to remove the cable guides unless you're replacing the valve cover) * Disconnect the PCV and breather hoses from the valve cover * Remove the spark plug wire cover bolts remove the cover and then remove the spark plug wires * Remove the bolts that attach the upper timing belt cover to the valve cover * Remove the valve cover bolts and then remove the valve cover
There is not a heater valve in a WV Passat. Instead, coolant moves through the heater core at all times.

On carbureated models you will have to remove the air cleaner assembly. remove the ground cable from the fron of the cover. Remove the 3 nuts from the top of the valve cover. carefully remove the washer/grommet assemblies. To reinstall: Clean the rubber grommets and check the valve gasket before reinstallation tighten nuts to 7ft. lbs.
All the solenoids for the transmission are inside the valve body. The side pan ( drives side ) on the transmission is the valve body cover. There is a manual lever position sensor at the transmission. This is at the end of the shifter cable at the transmission.
I have a 2000 VW Passat. I need to locate the Evaporative Emission system pure control valve circuit. Any info would be appreciated
pull of plug wires and the 2 vacum hoses on the valve cover remove the accel cable and cruise cables and bracket also remove bracket by alt, remove 2 bolts in front of timing cover holding wiring on top of valve cover from alt, remove big nuts on top of valve cover there is 4 remove spark plug hole seals.remove cover....reverse to install
Jack up, remove rear wheel, remove emergency brake cable, loosen bleeder valve and bleed as normal.
The hall sensor can be found on top of a Volkswagen Passat engine. The sensor is placed under the valve cover next to the timing belt.
