You first have to take the battery out of car. Then remove the airfilter assembly and all the hoses that are in the way to get to the starter which is on top of transmission. You then have to get a 13 millimeter crows foot because you can not get to the bolts on the starter any other way without striping them. remove starter. Then you need to drop the transmission which is not a hard job if you have the rite tools. Its a 13 milimeter for the transaxle assembley as well I believe if you have a strut spring tool it would be easier just to unbolt subframe gives you more working room. the slave cylinder is the last part in the housing of the transaxle you have to remove the flywheel which has a dowel pin through it then the clutch plate the pressure plate and there you are making sure you mark all componant the putting lines on these can make them line up the rite way. If your going to change the slave cylinder you my as well do the clutch and pressure plate as well. Will save alot of time and money in the future. You also have to remove left front wheel. To be able to get to some of the bolts as well. If you lived close I would do it for you cheap. Like 100 dollars. I live in huntington w.v. and use to be ase i-car certified when i worked for don hall cheverlet in ashland. Thank you. Have a wonderful day
how to remove the vent from dashboard of 1996 ford contour
You will have to remove the transmission and then look inside of the bellhousing and you will see the slave cylinder bolted in with 2 10mm bolts. remove the 2 bolts and slide the slave cylinder off the jack shaft.

Probably remove the transmissionm if its a internal slave, if external then its mounted on the outside of the tranny. The master clutch cylinder is located on the firewall. Bleed the system and pump the hell out of the clutch after installing the new slave. : On a 99 GST it is an external cylinder (2) 10mm bolts remove the line replace cylinder bleed system.
to replace the clutch slave cylinder... 1. remove the two bolts that hold the slave cylinder to the bellhousing. 2. hang it from a piece of wire..NOT by the braided hose. 3. remove the little pin that holds the cylinder to the hose. ***fluid will leak out of the braided hose... 4. When the fluid has stopped, install in the reverse order...

The slave cylinder is located on the driver side of your bell housing going to your motor. Its a cylinder about the size of a roll of quarters.. maybe a little bigger.
Hi, The slave cylinder is on the side of the transmission. The hydraulic clutch system bleeder valve is on the slave cylinder. If you're bleeding the cluth, remember to have a jar and some clear plastic to bleed the system and never re-use the fluid you remove from the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder. Good luck and I hope it's a warm day for you. Please remember to use jack stands or heavy metal ramps. Steve H.
