Try this: you will need a very long (or several short extensions) for a 3/8 drive rachet
and a 6 point swivel socket( NOT a socket & swivel put together)
pass the socket & extension thru the side motormount along the block coming from the
front. You will literally have to reach up & get the socket on the bolt head by feel.
be sure it's on correctly- rounding off the head would be a disaster.
Also, the small crossmember needs to be undone & swung out of the way.
starter needs to be tipped on end to remove- it's a tight fit.
I've done mine twice.
I think the flat rate book gives well under an hour labor like.6 or so.
better figure on twice that with home tools and conditions
hope this helps
Assuming the starter is now removed and what remains of the broken bolt is in the bell housing, weld a slightly larger nut over the broken bolt, let it cool completely then turn it out.
(1) You must first remove the bracket clamp that retains the wiring harness to the trnsmission. (2) Disconnect the starter wires from the starter and that should give you the clearance you need to get a wrench on the upper starter bolt. (3) then remove the lower bolt.
It is best to begin by removing the positive cable from the battery. Remove the cables from the front of the starter. Remove the starter retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new starter.
the bolt pattern is 5 on 108
remove you battery box and right below ur intake u will see a wire running to a bolt remove that bolt and the bolt below that and you will have to go underneath the car to get the starter out
disconnected neg battery cable remove bolt and nut attaching starter to bell housing. turn starter slightly and disconnect wires from starter. remove bolt from intermediate shaft at steering box and position out of the way. then remove starter though fender well. reverse procedure
remove the air tube, have small hands, remove the electrical connection, remove one nut and one bolt holding the IAC, curse alot and hopefully you will get it off.

The clutch has a bolt or nut in the center, connecting it to the compressor. After the nut is removed, the clutch can be removed by use of a gear puller.
For the 3.0 liter engine. Disconnect negative battery terminal. Locate starter at lower front of engine by engine fans. 2 bolts holding starter in, upper and lower. Remove lower bolt 3/4 way- easy to see, upper bolt go from top of engine to remove (need extensions). Completely remove lower bolt and remove positive battery connector and signal wire on top of starter. Install reverse of removal.
