A DVD-R can only have data written to it once. The data cannot be erased or overwritten.
Write-once DVD-R or CD-R can now be rewritten (only in Windows 7). Just format the disc into UDF file system; or, upon inserting a blank disc in the burner, Just choose LIKE A USB FLASH DRIVE among the 2 options, then format it.

you right-click, go to properties and u will get a text box with your CD name, hopefully it will work and i think it will work only on the pc that you entered the files in
No it is not possible to rewrite a DVD-r or DVD+r disc. The type of DVD that can do that is a DVD-rw or a DVD+rw
A rewrite capable DVD drive will allow you to erase and re-record.
The "RW" in DVD-RW stands for ReWrite. It works like a flash drive. You can save data to a disc, delete the data and save to the disc again.
The DVDs that you can rewrite many times are a DVD-RW and a DVD+RW. You can also rewrite a DVD-RAM more than once.
CD-R stands for compact disc-recordable. Another version of this is CD-RW which is compact disc- rewrite-able, meaning you can record over recordings again and again.
A CD-R can only be written on once, to rewrite or erase old data to use the disc again you need a CD-RW
Any discs that have "RW" on them. An example "CDRW" - Compact Disc, ReWritable
CD-RW
its called CD-RW I think.
A CD Drive reads CDs.A CD-R drive writes to CD-R discs. Rewrite not possible.A CD-RW drive writes to CD-RW discs. Rewrite capable.CD drive can only read a CD and not write to it, the drive is called a CD-ROM drive. CD-R is a recordable drive, it will burn to CD-R discs, which can only be burned to one time.CD-RW drives support CD-R and CD-RW, which is the ability to burn to CD-RW discs, which can be burned to, and erased, hundreds of times.
Dvd is different kind of storage disc even though it looks same as CD. Hence cd-rw cannot write dvd, while usually dvd-r or dvd-rw will be having facility to write on a cd.
It depends on the type of disc. If the disc is a CD-R or a DVD-R the info on the disc can not be overwritten once something is burned to it. However CD-RW and DVD-RW can be overwritten.
There's supposed to be 'CD-RW' written or printed on the Disc. Usually, it's either at the left or right side of the Disc.
