I'm not deliberately trying to be obtuse, but the question fails to take into consideration that there are many possible causes for the failure of a power supply.
The fault could be caused by something as simple as the failure of a diode or it could be as encompassing as the failure of several components at once.
Modern electronic repair has become a business of replacing entire assemblies. Often it's more cost effective to simply replace the entire failed component; in this case, the failed power supply.
