How do you repair broken bleeder on 1996 cavalier 2.2 engine cooling system?

If the Cavalier bleeder can not be removed with pliers, try a screw removal tool. The tool has angled threads. Slide it into the broken bleeder then turn it, the threads will grab the bleeder and should back it out for replacement.

Start the cold engine with the heater on hot, radiator cap removed, & front of the car jacked up. Make sure the radiator is full, and keep a close watch to make sure it stays full. As you run the engine and the themostat opens, the air should escape from the system. Also look for bleeder valves which will usually be located on the highest points of the cooling system. While the engine is running, open the bleeder valves slightly to remove any trapped air. You may or may not find bleeder valves. You may have to do this a couple of times to remove all trapped air. Check the level of the coolant for the next few days to make sure it stays full. As the air leaves the system the coolant level goes down.

If your looking for the Slave Cylinder bleeder, it is located on the right side of the engine compartment (the side with your battery). It is on the side of the engine, under some radiator hoses. there will be 2 nipples there that are on the top of your transmission. the one without the hose is the bleeder.... hope this helped... and if this is for the brakes.... your on your own, havnt needed to fix those yet.

there is a bleeder valve just behind the water pump. it takes a 1/4 inch socket or wrench. start the engine then loosen bleeder this will allow the fluid though your system. when you get fluid coming out without air you should be set. good luck.
