If you get robbed it'll lose life, so go to properties and pay for protection. To repair or protect property, you must be at least level fifteen. Once you reach this level, both actions can be performed quite easily from the properties screen. It is worth bearing in mind that you cannot either rob, repair or protect properties until you are at level fifteen, so it is worth making sure that you don't put too much faith in your properties at this early stage, because you will almost certainly be robbed if you have anything worth robbing.
