I think it is more convenient that you reinstall W7. All your files won't be lost for they will be moved into a new folder called old.windows that you can access at any time. You can delete on old.windows the program files, (select all the folders and press shift+del) and Windows folders as well through the same process.
For repairing W7, I am not sure, but you have to insert the W7 DVD into the driver and restart PC. An option will appear for the repairing. But not sure of this.
