The fuel filter is an inline type, and is located up under the Driverside rear wheel arch. If you get underneath and look up and behind the rear coil spring you will see it. just follow the fuel lines from the tank. It's a bit tight and you will get covered in fuel but it's doable.
Fram's number is G3727, which is the same used on my '04 Chevy Suburban. You'll need to release the fuel pressure by unscrewing the gas cap first. Also, you'll need some wrenches to hold fast both at the filter and line ends, plus some rags and a coffee can to catch/absorb the fuel that will spill out of both the filter and the line; you'll loose about 1/2 a cup. Locate filter housing, disconnect hoses, unclip the lid, open up and replace.
Left side facing car. Unclip the four clips, replace element. Installation is reverse.
There were many diffwerent styles or series of the Jaguar XJ. The smallest engine was 2.8 liter. The largest was 4.2 liter. The "Series II had a 5.3 liter engine.

A jaguar will have from 2-4 offspring in a litter with two being the most common number.
Take the 4-10mm nuts off the plastic shroud, remove shroud. With a oil filter wrench (or by hand) unscrew (CCW) filter housing. Remove paper filter discard, insert new filter, replace large o-ring on filter housing, screw housing back on till it bottoms out. Replace shroud, tighten 4-10mm nuts. Dispose of filter properly
It's on top the gas tank attached to the fuel pump. Tank must be removed to replace.
