How do you change a headgasket in a 1993 Saturn SL2 twin cam?

To replace the headgasket you'll need to remove the head and take it to a machine shop. A headgasket fails when the head warps, removing pressure from portions of the gasket. the new headgasket will not last if you don't have a machine shop shave the head to make it perfectly flat. Removing the head is a little involved; you need to remove the front cover/oil pump assembly (all in one) to remove the head. It's easier to just pull the engine.

How much should it cost to replace the headgasket on a 96 Saturn SLI 1.7 L?

I was told by a mechanic I called that to replace the headgasket for a 95 sw1 will be around 800-1100 depending on how much machining is needed. SOHC engine is known for cracking heads. Reman head from Saturn is approx $300. If you need a head I/d say at least 1000

prolly a blown headgasket or results of a preexhisting headgasket problem. if your headgasket isn't blown or you fixed it before drain the contents and add more oil.

How much does it cost to replace a head gasket on a 1993 jeep wrangle with 6 cylinder engine and is it possible the mechanic broke it when fixing the radiator and water pump?

not sure of the cost. I doubt the mechanic broke the headgasket. More than likely when the radiator and water pump went bad the engine overheated enough to ruin the headgasket.

Headgasket blown in vertical section between 12 causing no compression?

? is vague. Even with a blown headgasket you will have some compression and it is usually the same in both cylinders
