the part is like 20 to 50 bucks and average car 150 bucks
What is the avearage cost to fix a blow headgasket on a 98 lumina
I was told by a mechanic I called that to replace the headgasket for a 95 sw1 will be around 800-1100 depending on how much machining is needed. SOHC engine is known for cracking heads. Reman head from Saturn is approx $300. If you need a head I/d say at least 1000
its more likely to be the intake gaskets.
Remove intake & exhaust manifold, then remove head. Requires knowledge and skill.
not sure of the cost. I doubt the mechanic broke the headgasket. More than likely when the radiator and water pump went bad the engine overheated enough to ruin the headgasket.
does anybody know how this Bar's headgasket repair work?
It is smart to know the cost of replacing car parts. A 1992 Honda Accord head gasket will cost between $20 and $130 for a person to make the change on their own.
5 to 7k at the dealer. You can replace it yourself with a used engine but I would recomend doing a time cert job on the block before installing it and that is a lot of work. Besides headgasket failures these engines are very reliable and can go forever.
To replace the headgasket you'll need to remove the head and take it to a machine shop. A headgasket fails when the head warps, removing pressure from portions of the gasket. the new headgasket will not last if you don't have a machine shop shave the head to make it perfectly flat. Removing the head is a little involved; you need to remove the front cover/oil pump assembly (all in one) to remove the head. It's easier to just pull the engine.
no you should not drive with a blown headgasket, water is now in the oil and will ruin the bearings etc.
Depends on the make, model, and engine in the vehicle. Also depends on if the head is damaged.
too much oil in the engine will cause of airation and will create too much pressure to your engine and will damage the headgasket.
