to replce the sealed beam headlamps on a c4 corvette you must turn the headlights to the second on position and while they are still turning you must quickly return the switch to the halfway position (side markers only position) and this will freeze the headlights in a position where thay can be accessed. although this is inconvenient it is the only way to do it. (it may take multiple tries to get it into best position but now that you know the technique it shouldn't be hard. once you have the assembly in the halfway position the rest iis very simple. remove the 4 screws that hold the outer cover to the assembly and place to side. once this is done only 4 screws remain to remove to complete. remove the 4 screws from the chrome trim ring and the headlight will slide out. after removing ring and unplugging bulb, reinstallation of your new 6054 headlight is simply the reverse. best of luck felllow corvette owner:)

Well, I've tried what the manual said and i can't get the headlights to stop in the halfway position, making it impossible to remove the screws which hold the cover in place. Can anyone help with this question? I need to change the right headlamp. Thanx in advance.
It means lying down only halfway.
Meet someone halfway, change their position slightly
The term is "resting position" (also equilibrium position).
There are 4 10mm bolts that hold them in. there is the visible one on top, two that go in the back of the headlamp and are located closer to the turn signal, and one that goes in the front into the radiator core support. That last one is very tricky to get to and usually involves removing the front bumper cover. Get those four bolts, unplug your wires, and youre halfway there. Just do all that in reverse and your headlamp is replaced!
You need a new motor for your headlight doors. The old motor is dying. You can purchase inexpensive motors from the junkyard.
Open the hood and then using the manual override for the headlight motor and lower the covers about halfway. Then reach down in between the headlight door and the headlight to reach the turn signal bulb. Then just turn the socket clockwise or counter clockwise, I don't remember which and it will only turn one way, and then pull the socket out.
Passenger side support rail of what would be considered the 'grille'. Its halfway between the RH headlight and middle of the front bumper, vertically mounted.
On the top side of the steering column about halfway down, the high beam/low beam headlight switch should be bolted to the column right beside it. Inside the vehicle.
The crankshaft position sensor is on the same side of the engine as the alternator and dip stick. It is about halfway between front and back, in the side of the block.
Around the Leicester I would think but if you want the exact half position you would have to consult a map :)
The two outside switches go halfway down, and the middle one all the way down.
