Loosen rear inside trunk trim panel on the side you are working on. Completely remove the side inside trunk panel. Using 11 mm or 7/16 open end wrench loosen and remove 2 silver nuts that hold the tail light assembly in place. One of them is on a screw with a 4 inch stud that helps to re-position the assembly when re-installing. Grasp the tail light assembly from the outside and wiggle and pull until it breaks loose. You should now be able to access the socket for the tail light bulb to twist it out and replace the bulb.
