How do you replace a wiper motor on a 96 VW Jetta?

1) Remove wiper arms, pop off the small caps at the base of the arm and remove the nut, wiggle arm until free.

2)Remove wiper cowl. That black plastic cowl is held on with the plastic screws they are threaded but you may have to pry up on them gently while turning them out.

3) With the cowl off you can see the 3 bolts that hold on the wiper transmission remove those 3 bolts, disconnect the wires and pull out the assembly the motor will come with it.

4) a couple bolts hold the motor to the wiper transmission, remove them and the motor is free.

If you are having trouble with the wipers, chances are it is the wiper pulse board that is attached to the wiper motor. This part is available from your local auto parts store and is relatively easy to replace. The part should cost aprox $25-$30.

at the back of the hood, base of the windshield there is a black plastic piece that your wiper arms are coming out off. remove the wiper arms and the black cowl and you will see the wiper motor off the the driver side and you can figure it out from there.Good luck

The 1996 Chevrolet Caprice windshield wiper motor can be found on the firewall in the engine compartment. It should not have anything the do with the fan motors.

The fuse for the wiper motor in a 1996 Dodge 1500 truck would be in the fuse box. It would be located in the interior fuse box of the car.

The gears in the motor are stripped. Mine did the same thing. Replace the motor.

The pump should be connected to the base of the washer fluid reservoir.

I was looking at the 1996 Ford Ranger Owner Guide and it shows : ( mini fuse # 16 is a 30 amp fuse for the front wiper )

it is under the hood on the passenger side 3 bolts hold it in they are 10mm and you must loosen the 2 bolts to the arms it will slide forward and unplug it and it is out just did one not hard at all

You might have a small leak in your heater core, had that problem with my 96 Jetta. Had to replace it.

on my 97 jetta (same model) just open the trunk with your key and then close it

sounds like your wiper motor is going bad. had the same thing happen on my 96 Chevy pick up. check your connection where your wires plug in. if that's not loose i would repace wiper motor.

This is a very common problem with gm.you need to replace the wiper motor circuit board.dont rplc the entire wiper motor.it has 3 or 4 bolts that hold the cover face on.it will slide right out after you unplug the power connector.these ckt boards are readily available as your local parts store.

Wiper arms on a 96 Buick Skylark can be adjusted. This can be done by flipping open the plastic snap cover at the bottom of the wiper arm. Loosen the ratchet and remove the nut. Then adjust the wiper arm. Put back the nut and tighten the ratchet.รŠ

If I remember correctly it will be located at the bottom of the windshield under the cowl assembly and you will need to remove the wiper arms and the cowl to remove this............
