In order to probably repair the heater core in your 2000 New Beetle, you will probably have to get the entire heater core replaced.
replace the blower motor resistor. it is located on the firewall near the heater hoses.
Check the heater hoses on the right side of the engine. If one hose is hot and the other is not , you might have a blocked heater core. Or the blend door actuator might not be operating correctly.
Follow the heater hoses from the engine. They will lead right to the heater core.
you may not have the heater water hoses plugged in
Remove the water supply hoses from your heater core. Remove the heater core retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new heater core.
just splice the two heater hoses that go through to the heater core the together

No it will not, it will just back flush the heater core and clean it out.
I cut off the rusted out lines with a small tubing cutter and replaced them with regular heater hose and clamped the ends. Copper tubing and hose clamps also work.
