To replace the ignition switch on a 1990 Ford truck, first disconnect the battery to ensure safety. Remove the steering column cover by unscrewing the screws, then locate the ignition switch, which is typically mounted on the steering column. Disconnect the wiring harness from the old switch, unbolt it, and install the new switch in reverse order, ensuring all connections are secure before reassembling the steering column and reconnecting the battery. Test the new ignition switch to confirm it's functioning properly.
