Get a manual on your car from the parts store as you have to work with the air bag and can be sccidentally deployed. Also the wiring for the air bag has to be handeled in a certain way. Or take it to a garage.
*added information* Note that the Chevy s10 production year starts in 1982. You may have mistaken it as 1981 by the label that states production of it within the factory.

To remove the ignition switch on a 1981 Dodge pickup, first disconnect the battery to ensure safety. Then, remove the steering column cover to access the ignition switch. Disconnect the wiring harness from the switch, unscrew the mounting screws, and carefully pull the switch out. Finally, replace with a new switch and reassemble the steering column cover and battery connections.
Take your battery cable off the post so you don't short out anything. Turn the key to run and then you have to take the steering wheel off to get to the release pin. When you push the pin you should be able to pull the ignition switch out. If you can't turn the key to run you will have trouble. I just did this and had to drill the ignition switch out which wasn't fun.ANSWER #2 1994 ford f150Replacing ignition tumbler on a ford f150 1994 Memorial day week end and my brother just broke the key off in the ignition of my truck. Ohhh Brother! HOW TO replace the tumbler when a key is broken off or really stuck in the tumbler.First: You need to remove the four philups head screws on the under side of the steering column. Second: you will notice a pin when looking up at the underside to the column. Laying on the seat you will have to position (turn) the lock to a position where it will allow you to depress the pin to slide the tumbeler out. After pressing the button with a nail or nail set or other, you then easily pry the tumbeler out. The tumbeler is about $50 adn yyou can get it at the auto parts store. If you are looking to now get the key on the ignition tumbler to now match the doors well, that's a issues that i do not have an answer for. And to be quite honest, do you really care that much to spend that much $$$ if you have an old piece of shi* like this anyway? If you are really looking to get the keys to match then call a locksmith or order the tumbler from FORD, MAYBE.PLease note that you may be able to slide or pry the key out of the tumbeler after you have removed the tumber. This all depends on how stuck the key really is and secondly, how old the tumbeler is. A penny saved and penny earned is not really the case with this repair. You could just end up breaking a key again and have to read this rant all over again.Paul
The "Stingray" moniker was not used in 1981.
you can replace the speedometer by taking it to your nearest car dealers shop/ sale or you can just take it and post it online by taking a picture and people can tell you and give you a bit more information about this ;)
There are vacuum lines in your ignition switch. One of them is leaking or had been pulled loose. If the former is the problem, replace the vacuum line.
