The inner door panel must be removed and you'll find linkage that's clipped onto the handle. There should be 2 nuts that hold the assm. onto the door. Be careful not to scratch the paint.

tAKE THE DOOR PANEL OFF BY REMOVING THE WINDOW AND DOOR HANDLES, TEHN ALL SCREWS YOU CAN FIND THEN THE RETAINERS ON THE SIDES AND BOTTOM OF THE DOOR. PULL OUT ON THE BOTTOM AND PUSH IN ON THE TOP OF THE PANELTO DISENGAGE THE DOOR TOP.
Roll down the window, reach outside, and lift the door latch or lever.
