I just did mine. Use a screw driver to press the brake pads away from the rotor and compress the caliper pistons back some so you can remove the caliper off of hte rotor. Losen and remove the bolts to the brake caliper. DO NOT DISCONNECT the brake line from the caliper! Get you a c-clamp and a piece of 1/4 board about 4 inches long. Once you have removed the caliper from the mount and removed the brake pads support the caliper with one hand. Place the wood over the caliper pistons and using the c-clamp place it over the wood and center of both pistons and other side of caliper to compress the pistons back into the caliper. Make sure you DO NOT PINCH the rubber boots on the pistons. Once you have compressed the pistons back into the calipers install your new pads and calipers back on the mounting surface and tighten the bolts back to torque specs.
For 1997 you hammer out the two diamond shaped pins. You need something long that will be able to push them right through. The caliper can now be pulled out away from the rotor. To replace them just hammer them back in once the caliper is lined up.
2006 f350 6.0 powerstroke. 420,000 miles. Replace injectors and ipr at 400,000
remove two bolts on the backside of calipers and remove the caiper. Use a C clamp and old brake shoe to push piston back into the caliper. Put the new shoes in to caliper and place it back onto the rotor. Tighten up the two caliper bolts. Do the same to the other side. Be sure to chock the rear wheels when you jack the front to remove the tires. When you are done be sure you pump the pedal several times before putting the truck back into gear so you can stop the vehicle and aviod wrecking the truck. Bleeding the brake system probably will not be necessarry but you might check your fluid level.
