The answer to this question depends on the year of the Honda Civic. I went through my reference books and on some of the older models (pre 1998), it appears that if there was a rear wiper, it was the most common type of wiper with the hook attachment. Lengths vary though depending on generation. That said, you can get an aftermarket wiper blade at the store or online.

If it is newer than 1998, rear wipers are not showing up in my aftermarket wiper reference guides which would indicate that they are proprietary Honda parts and you have to go to the dealer for them. I do not even see rubber blade refills listed so that would be another indication that they are unique to Honda.

If you have a pre-1999 Honda Civic:

  • 96-98: 15"
  • 88-91: 16"
  • 87: 16" except CRX which is 18"
  • 84-86: 15" except CRX which is 18"
  • 81-83: 13"

Important: When buying windshield wiper blades be sure to always look up your vehicle make, model and year in the application guide book at the store

How do you remove old wiper blades and replace them on a 1995 Honda Civic LX?

Most Honda's have what is called a shepherds crook type mount. Take the wiper blade and rotate it 90 from the arm while you push in the tab mounted on the underside of the blade. Push the blade towards wiper arm gently. It should slide about 2" and then you can pull it out and around the 'crook' part of the wiper arm. If you can't do this, any auto parts store can help you out. usually for free.
