Lift car, remove wheel, remove caliper & caliper bracket (bolts in back near strut). Give the rotor a wack with a hammer if it's stuck on the hub and remove it. Reverse to install.
The bottom strut mount is connected to the frame by two retaining bolts. Remove the retaining bolts to remove the strut mount. Reverse the process to install the new strut mount.

remove the rear wheel, undo the bottom bolt of the strut. inside the car remove the plasic paneling in the back covering the strut mount. unscrew both nuts and pull the strut out.
Having a bad strut or strut mount can cause squeaking on a turn. Bumps may also be more rough and a slight rattle can come from around the tire when hitting a bump on the bad strut side.
You will need to compress the 2002 Pontiac Grand Am strut spring with a spring compressor. Remove the top and bottom strut retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new strut.
You've got 4 mounts total. A transmission mount, then on the other side of the motor, you've got a mount that goes to the middle of the engine that is in the fender, and upper torque strut and a lower torque strut on that same side.
Have you checked your spark plugs and the leads coming from your ignition coil? If you replace them, do it one lead at a time so you dont mess up the firing order. Get your buddy to drop the wire down to you. Get a good safe jack. Its freaky down there. If you find that the jerk is felt in the steering wheel, (the wheel is actually jerking in your hand), you may well have a broken strut mount. If this is the case, it can be dangerous and needs to be addressed .
there are 4, each above the strut holding the spring on
unbolst strut from the vehicle. compress the springs with spring tool. take large nut from top of strut assembly. remove spring from assembly. use tool to unscrew the top of the strut cartridge. slide top off of strut piston. take strut cartridge out and replace with new one. then revers the steps.
