To change the alternator in the truck, first disconnect the battery and then disconnect a plug that the alternator has on the right top of the alternator. Then there is a red cover that has a bolt and then unscrew that and then there are two more larger bolt, one on top and one on the bottom and then it should come out. But before you do all that take off the belt. Thank you

On my 1994 Bravada the oil filter is located behind the driver side headlight, if the 1991 has an oil cooler like the 94 it is probably there also. You might also ask at this forum I have found useful http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums
The voltage regulator is an integral part of the alternator on that vehicle.
To replace the alternator regulator on a 1991 Ford Tempo, first disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety. Remove the alternator from the vehicle by disconnecting the wiring harness and loosening the mounting bolts. Once the alternator is removed, locate the regulator, which is typically mounted on the back of the alternator, and replace it with the new unit. Reassemble the alternator, reinstall it in the vehicle, and reconnect the battery terminal.
Disconnect the 1991 Regal battery. Remove the alternator belt and wiring. Unbolt the alternator and install the new one. Reconnect the wires, install the belt, then reconnect the battery.
