The center section of the upper area of the that encloses the upper light assembly needs to be removed. It is plastic and is clipped in so be careful. After you remove this section the light assembly may or may not be attached to this piece. You need to unattach it and remove the bulb which is a 21 18W D bulb, standard rear brake light bulb in most American cars. Replace bulb and replace assembly then reclip the plastic section to the door. Be careful the plastic clips can break.
The subwoofer/high tail stop lamp are one unit. The cover will pop off the rear deck with some gentle perusasion from a screwdriver or similar. They are very tightly held though so expect it 'POP' off as the clips come away. Hope this helps Muzz
After opening the lift-gate, there should be two round screw covers on the plastic frame. Pop these open using a small flat blade screwdriver and you should see the screws. Remove the screws and the light housing shold swing out (clip holding on fender) and you shiould see the bulb bayonets. [geolobrad note on mine the housing pulls straight back, there are two small plastic plugs that go into body of car, need to tug slightly to pop those out]
Open trunk. There is an opening on both sides that has velcro to hold in closed position. Open up .... you will have room to remove and install a new bulb. Note! Always change out both right and left bulbs at same time.
The brake light assembly can be access through the cargo compartment. Remove the cover to the brake light assembly. Take hold of the brake light connector, push in and turn at the same time. The brake light will come out. Reverse the process to install the new brake light.
The brakelight sensor is located on the brake switch, which is on top of the brake pedal and held on with a 14mm jam nut.

Remove the center piece of trim on the inside of the lift gate. it just pulls off. then push up on the two tabs at the bottom of the light to remove it. then replace bulb with the correct bulb. .....
Remove the wiring harness from the high mount brake light. Remove the back cover of the brake light assembly. Take hold of the brake light connector, push in and turn at the same time. Reverse the process to install the new brake light.
