serpentine belt.
What type of belt? What size engine is it also?
unhook the battery, remove the cerpintine belt, remove the wires, remove the bad alternator, put on the new alternator, replace the wires starting w/ the negative one, replace the cerpintine belt, tighten the belt.
It goes underneath the water pump and around the next pulley.
You can change an idler pulley on a 2001 Monte Carlo by first, removing the negative cable from the battery. Using a socket wrench, loosen the tension adjustment bolt. Slide the serpentine belt away from the pulley. Remove?æthe center bolt, and remove the pulley from the engine. Replace the pulley,?æreturn and tighten the bolts, and replace the serpentine belt.
The belt itself costs around $20 so if you do it yourself there you go... idk how much a garage would charge
The 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 3.4 liter V6 engine has a timing CHAIN
If you mean the serpentine belt that runs the pulleys on the front of the car, there is a tensioner pulley that you can turn with a wrench to release the tension. Make sure you remember the routing of the belt so you can put the new belt on the same way.
