Fuel filter located in front of the rear wheel/driver side, two wrenches placed front and back of fuel filter. raise rear of car. remove gas cap to relieve any built up pressure, spray rust remover on male farrels going into both ends of fuel filter, let soak, have container to discharge gas into with rag, start on either end unloosen .repeat procedure and install new filter! hope this helps! girl~!

I have a 2002 beetle with a TDI and the filter is black a located on the passenger shock tower.

If the Bonneville is like my GTP then the fuel filter is in front of the fuel tank
behind the driver, under the vehicle.
If the car has the original Rochester carb on it, the filter is inside it. Follow the fuel line to the carb. There you will see what looks like a large hex nut. Loosen that and inside there is the filter available at any auto parts store.

On my 99 SSEi, it was located on the passenger side just in front of the rear wheel.
