How do you replace the fuel filter located on a 1999 Ford Escort?

The Fuel Filter is located on the firewall on the drivers side between the battery and engine.To make things easy remove the battery and battery tray and follow these procedures. 1 Remove gas cap to relieve pressure. 2 Shut off fuel switch located under driver side next to fuse panel. 3 The filter is attached to firewall with a clamp, loosen this clamp but do not remove it. 4 The fuel lines are attached with plastic clamps that slide over the fuel lines. 5 Pull the bottom clamp off first and then the top one,I used pliers to pull them off being carefull not to break them. 6 Remove the old filter by pulling it straight up, the top of the filter has a lip to keep it from sliding down. 7 Install new filter and very important new plastic clamps which came with my filter purchased from a Ford dealer. 8 Reset fuel switch and your on your way
