You need to get the special tool to release the line locks on each side. The tools can be purchased at autozone, napa, pepboys, etc. I have changed mine 3 times in 10 years - twice was a pain, once the clips actually released easily. I used the little plastic tools, but I bet the metal ones will make it easier. The fuel filter is located under the rear bumper cover behind the gas tank. You shouldn't need to jack up the car to reach it. Make sure you put the new one in the correct direction. There is a check valve inside the filter and it should have an arrow. The fuel flows from the passenger side to the drivers side through the filter. Good luck.
