The fuel filter for the 1991 Ford Econoline Van is under the van on the driver's side just the other side of the frame well. To replace it, remove the plastic clips. Next, remove the filter and replace it with a new one. Do not change the filter when the vehicle is hot because the system will be pressurized and may shoot fuel into your face.
The fuel filter is non-replaceable, and integrated with the fuel pump module which is inside the fuel tank. To replace the fuel filter, one must replace the entire fuel pump module, which requires either the removal of the fuel tank, or the removal of the truck box. Either method is about the same headache.
If your '83 Ford T-bird has a carburetor the fuel filter is screwed onto the front of it. While the engine is off and cold, all you need is a small wrench to unscrew the fuel line then unscrew the fuel filter from the carburetor.
