Before removing the old fuel filter, you should relieve the pressure from the fuel system via the schrader valve under the hood by the intake plenum (the metal or plastic cover on the engine that distributes the air among the cylinders) if your car comes with one. It will be on the side of a metal fixture about the size of a Reese cup. There will be a cap on the side. Remove the cap and inside is a valve just like a tire valve. Put a rag around the valve and press the valve in until all the fuel drains out. Then it will be safe to remove the filter. Removing the filter should be a fairly easy task--with the right tools. If your have has threaded ends, it will be as simple as unscrewing the old filter and screwing the new one on. If you don't see what looks like nuts on the ends of the filter, you will have to use a fuel line disconnect set. They slip over the fuel line and slide in the ends of the filter to move the plastic tabs so you can slide it out. Installation is reverses, just snap the lines on and secure the filter.
