OK, This one was easy for me. *Note: The Fuel Pump and Filter are together inside the tank! The filter wraps around the pump.....yes yes. I would recommend replacing both at same time but don't buy the pump from a dealer or a walk in store. You will be out of $300 for a $30 pump. Buy it over the net and wait for a few days. The filter I bought from a dealer for 32 bucks, fair enough.

1) Rear Seat: Lower the left and right side back seat (back of seat). There are two sides. There is a button at the top of each. You can lower them separately. Push the button down and pull the seat back forward. The inside of the truck should now be visible.

2) Access: There is a fuel pump access panel in the middle. (should be right in your face).

You simple pry it open. It has some sticky stuff on it , but it also kinda slides in place so it sort of locks in. There is an arrow on it pointing which way you slide it when installing it. Slide it the opposite way if you're afraid to pry it. Its only very thin plastic.

3) Fuel pump and filter: You should see the top of the fuel pump assembly. There are two places to disconnect wires.

1) harness to the pump (simply push in the lil tab and pull the baby out).

2) there is a separate wire that's attached to the access panel (it detaches pretty much the same way.

4) Fuel Lines: After harness has been disconnected, crank the engine a few rounds to releive pressure. Disconnect the battery. Now there are two fuel related lines. 1) small line: simply use pliers to crimp the retainer and slide it back to disconnect the hose. 2) Large hose: remove the retaining bolt and use pliers to turn the connector clockwise about half turn and it should come right out. *Note have rag or plastic bag handy for excess fuel leakage. (Not much )

5) Detach and remove the fuel pump assembly: There are 6 Phillips screws holding the assembly inside the tank. Unscrew them and slowly pull the assemlby out of the tank. Nothing else to detach. You will say " wow, that was easy".

The reason i mentioned replacing both is it takes some skill to get the pump of the filter because the pump is attached to the filter by a preasure clamp that's connected in 5 places around the bottom of the filter. The secret is to pry all of them at once and pull the clamp off. How to do? I went one by one and use a thin computer panel filler, or maybe u can use a very flat screwdriver to pry one enough to slide a baby nail from the inside facing up. I did this until all of them had nails in them. The sucker came off so fast i spilled fuel and the nails went flying. So its easy once you have inserted something in all of the secured areas. This requires some maguiver skills which I acquired over the years of not have money :P

Im sure this applies to most 2004 hyundais witch filter in tank. Maybe other years too.

Install in reverse.
