How do you replace the headlight bulb on a 1996 Honda Civic?

Change a 1996 Honda Civic DX Headlamp Bulb

Philips head screwdriver required.

Step [1] Open the hood

Step [2] Remove bulb power socket (three wires run into this socket). You must squeeze both sides of socket for it to release properly. The socket should remove VERY EASILY, DO NO TUG. If it does not come off easily, you are not squeezing the side releases with enough pressure or properly. Also note, passenger side needs no additional clearance. Drivers side will require you to slide the Power Steering fluid reservoir out of the way.

Step [3] Remove the rubber boot -- carefully

Step [4] Do not remove the small screw that holds the wire bulb spring.

Just push the spring forward and up. It will pivot away from the bulb at this small screw, contact point. Once the new bulb is back in place, swing the spring back over the bulb, pressing forward and down to lock it into place.

Step [5] Remove headlamp bulb

Reverse the process to install.

DO NOT TOUCH NEW BULB GLASS-- The oil on your hands can decrease the lifespan of the bulb.
