Jack it up under the A frame on the side you are working on.

You can not just change the ball joint , you have to replace the whole lower control arm with ball joint.

You will need to remove the tire and wheel from your Oldsmobile. Remove the retaining not on top of the ball joint. Pound the ball joint out. Reverse the process to install your new lower ball joint.
Since it's the lower, I think you can replace just the ball joint. Most of the time the uppers are replaced by replacing the entire arm.
If you mean the lower suspension arm (wishbone) ball joint, it is fixed into the arm. This means you need to replace the whole lower arm.
Either replace the lower control arm with a new one which already has the new ball joint in it, or the easier and far less expensive way just go to the auto part store, ask for a lower ball joint for your car. They are about $25 apiece. Press out the old and press in the new one. Be careful, the holes in the control arm may be a hair larger than they should be, and the ball joint will not be pressed in as tight as it should be. Geo
