First off disconnect the battery. You'll obviously need to get the instrument cluster out. It should just have a few screws at the top, then it'll slide out allowing you to disconnect the wires. I have a 1994 325i and I had the same problem. I went into the trunk and replace the light bulb for $5.55 and that was all it took. One blown bulb caused the same effect in my BMW, Good luck

Newer BMW's are nearly impossible to be able to change the headlight on. Take it to the nearest shop and have them do it for you.
