This one comes under the heading of 'if you have to ask, you need the service manual'. Bsending unity the way it is extremely rare for an oil pump to fail before the engine is ready for an overhaul. If you have a high mileage engine and your oil pressure is simply low (not non existant) you could have other issues. If you're asking because the oil pressure light on your dash doesn't go off once the engine is started the problem could simply be with the pressure switch. The oil pump on the 4 cylinder Solara is inside the engine, the 6 cylinder pump is bolted to the front of the block. In both cases it appears (looking at the factory service manual) the engine has to come out of the car for access and replacement. I would strongly suggest you pick up a maintenance manual. Either the Toyota factory manual (downloadable from Toyota Information Services) or a Chilton or Haynes manual (many auto supply stores or Amazon.com). Having a manual will take a lot of mystery out of all kinds of things from oil pumps to fuses. Cheers
