jack up and block rear axel,remove wheel and brake drum ,remove brake shoes to access ,remove cable from lever, use flat screw driver to break locking tangs where cable casing enters backing plate,remove from plate remove other end from cable connecter with vise grips . reverse to install

You can replace the speedometer cable, on your 1988 Ford Ranger, by loosening the cable nut on each end of the cable. The cable will come off and can then be replaced.

Your 1988 Nissan 300 speedometer cable is held in place with swivel nuts on each end of the speedometer cable. Turn the swivel nuts to the left. The speedometer cable will come off. Reverse the process to install your new speedometer cable.
