Just did this for Christmas vacation. First, allocate half a day to complete. Go to the store and obtain a GM Power Steering pump pulley removal / install tool. ( You can normally rent one but it is not that much more to purchase and it won't be bent by previous user ). Then start removing things : belt, water pump pulley, power steering pump pulley, coil pack, upper radiator hose at thermostat housing, upper small heater hose and tube (2 bolts to engine). Now remove power steering pump from bracket 4 bolts under pulley and set aside or tie off. Remove every bolt you can find on the bracket that holds the power steering pump, front and rear. Finally remove the bracket entirely ! Now you can see the water pump - change it. Don't forget to put some gasket seal on the new water pump -- you do not want to do this twice ! FIND A DIFFERENT ANSWER: I would start by opening the hood of your car and looking at where your pump is first. Do not listen to this answer because he must not know what kind of car he has or he is just an idiot.
