Well, first you need to find out what engine you really have... Chrysler never offered a 2.9L V6 in a sebring. Even today they are 2.7L. In '98 the V6 was a 2.5L, I know this because I own one. When you find out what engine you do have ask again and I'll likely be able to answer. Good luck
The 1998 Chrysler Sebring has a timing belt.
You must drop the fuel tank.
The Sebring is a Chrysler product. Replace the crankshaft position sensor before beginning any diagnosis.

If the timing belt in the 1998 Chrysler Sebring causes damage to the valves and the head when it breaks, they will have to be replaced. It is recommended that the water pump also be replaced when replacing the timing belt.
