Set / Reset 3-dial combination lock
How do I set / reset my Samsonite or American Tourister 3-dial combination lock?
Setting Your Samsonite or American Tourister 3-dial Combination Lock:
1. Remove the red packing arrow on the lock if your case has one.
2. The case is set to 0-0-0 at the factory. Choose your own 3 digits which you can easily recall (birthday, address, etc.).
3. Locate the button or lever adjacent to the dials:
-If there is a button, push it towards the dial and hold while you rotate the dials to your desired setting, then release the button.
- If there is a lever, move the lever to its lower position (some move to the right and up), rotate the dials to your desired setting, then return the lever to its original position.
Your combination is now set to your 3-digit code.
A TSA007 Approved Samsonite Lock can be reset at any respectable locksmith, as they will possess the correct tools necessary to reset the lock without breaking it or damaging it.
If you know the combination, dial it in, then close the lock, then press and hold the "reset" button. Whatever number you set before releasing the "reset" button will be the new combination.
No reset is necessary.
Travel Sentry is not a brand that makes locks- it is a luggage security system recognized by TSA. It is a sign that the lock is approved by this agency. But, to answer the question, most 3-dial combo locks are set the same way....you need to open the lock with the current combination, turn the shackle either 90 or 180 degrees and push it down, then set your new combination while holding it down. Hopethishelps!

== == I ran into this once, and it seemed like I had to push the square 'opener' in the opposite direction that you would use to open the case. This then set the new combo to whatever numbers are in that position when you do this. This was an older Samsonite, but it worked. If not, try Samsonite's website or just do a web search on 'how do I reset my briefcase's combination'.
one can use a magnet to push down the indexes and reset it
because of the time difference
Funny thing. I actually had the same Samsonite Sentry lock for years stuck in the unlocked position because i DID forget the code too. Just recently figured out how to unlock the sucker. Here's what you do. This works for whether it's stuck in the open or locked position but you forgot the code. 1) Make sure the lever is in the "closed" position. Even if it's not closed, line it up with the opening 2) Push down on the lever and keep it held down throughout the rest of the directions 3) Starting from the bottom dial, slowly turn it through each number. Each normal number should have the same resistance as you're turning it UNTIL you get to the right number. When you get the right number suddenly you should feel it easily pop into place like it wants to be there. 4) Repeat with the next dial up and then the last dial at the top. 5) When you feel the last dial just "pop" into place like the other two, the lever should suddenly be free to recess into the lock OR be unlocked and able to twist around freely. 6) now remember this combo or to reset the lock to a code you can remember. Honestly, it seems way too easy to unlock this thing and your luggage suddenly doesn't feel THAT safe anymore does it?
No, that would be considered a "travel" and the play would reset. To be considered a fair toss and not a travel, the disc would have to completely leave your hands.
If you get an atomic clock it can be set to adjust for the time zone, and as a bonus will always show the correct time.
