1) Put the key in the ignition turn to on position
2) Take the key out
3) Hold the ODO reset button, and quickly reinsert the key and turn to ON position
It should count down like so;

Just found out that it must be reset at the dealership with a diagnostic computer
To reset the maintenance required light on a 1989 Dodge D50, disconnect the battery. Leave it disconnected for 10 minutes before reconnecting it.
With the ignition switch in the off position, press and hold the odometer reset button while at the same time turning the ignition to the on position. After a few seconds the maintenance required light will go out.
