The dash warning light means check engine. It can indicate a number of issues with your engine that are best checked by a mechanic.

In the engine bay, to the right of the engine, close to the top of the radiator.
If the check engine light it on a 2002 Hyundai Accent on one of the sensors is malfunctioning. The computer is acknowledging this and alerting the driver that there is a problem in the engine.

The check engine light, on your Hyundai Elantra can be reset by removing the fuse. Keep the fuse out for 10 seconds and replace it to its slot.
You must take the battery cables off for about 15 mins. Then connect cables again. Light should come on a few seconds when starting then cut off! If it comes back after a few miles or so..you have en emmissions issue.
