Resetting code on Samsonite suitcases

Look behind the lock on the inside of the case there is a tiny part (like a stick shift) sticking out of a square about 1 cm across move it to the diagonally opposite side (some move sideways toward the numbers and then up to hold it in place) reset code
return shift to old position.

For those without the little stick shift part, try this:

• With the case open, and the current combo in place, hold down the shackle (the little grey or black button beside the combination numbers).
• While holding this shackle down, rotate the numbers to the number YOU WILL REMEMBER. (Holding the shackle down allows the numbers to tumble without moving the divots.)
  
• Let go of the shackle -these numbers are now associated with the divots.
  
• Now your combination should be set to the number you wish.

For those with combination locks on a zipper hardshell, try this:

On the bottom edge of the casing surrounding the lock there is a small button. With the combination set to the current "open" numbers, depress the button with the end of a pen or something similar. It should "click" and stay depressed. Now turn the combination settings to a new number YOU WILL REMEMBER. Next, pull on the release button. The button will snap back out and the numbers you have set the combination to will now be the ones that open the lock.

For those with neither one of the above options:

Try pushing the latch that usually opens the case towards the center (where the handle is) and set the new code while keeping the latch pushed towards the middle.

The latch usually opens the suitcase with the right combination when pushing it away from the middle (towards left and right) for setting the code you need to push the latch in the opposite direction (towards the handle).

Once you have the new lock code set, release the handle and you are good to go.
