Placing a heavy underlay over the top of this type of blanket may trap the heat and inadvertently activate the safety overheat protection system, which cannot be reset. If using a magnetic underlay, you should check with the supplier of the underlay to ensure its effectiveness when used in conjunction with an electric blanket.

Just reseat the control plug at the base of the blanket with secure force. The main plug should be seated past the retainer catches on both sides of the plug. Then unplug the AC cord from the wall and replug to reset. This is a common problem for ALL Sunbeam electric blankets. The socket fits too tight and takes some strong-arm force to connect properly. Seems SB wanted to make sure you could not kick out the plug when sleeping.
