Disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 minutes. This should reset the ECU. Know that unless you repair the problem that caused the Check Engine light to come on in the first place it will just come back on.

It stands for Inflatable Restraint sensor might be faulty
After trying all sorts of fixes I finally found the problem on my buick .It was simply a crack in a u-shaped rubber hose in the vacumn lines and a sensor right in front of the throttle body .Its about 4 inches long and u shaped and cracked slightlly in the u.Its the only rubber hose in the area as all the rest are plastic .replaced it with a longer plastic piece NO MORE LIGHT! 2002 buick 3,8 engine.
The switch assy pries out of the door but you hjave to be extremely careful not ot break something. You will see the bulb then.
It located 7 inches up from the rubber pedal pad. (The piece you rest your foot upon when you apply the brakes ). The switch contacts the metal bar that makes up the lever section of the of the brake pedal. Many Buick's have a skirt panel or valance under the dash which conceals that area you will need to work in.
Using a screw driver, remove all of the screws in the panel, then remove all of the clips and gently pull the panel away from the frame. Remove any wire connectors and then pull the panel off the rest of the way.
I am not quite sure as to what you are refering when you rest. I think you mean to reset the computor. You will need a scanner to clear the computor. It will not do you any good unless you do the necessary repairs.
The alternator will not draw power from the battery but the rest of the vehicle systems will. If your alternator is not functioning properly the battery takes the toll.
The cover where the front 4x6 speakers are located. That is a completely separate piece from the rest of your dash. That long piece that sits on top of your dash snaps in. It is a ****** to get off. I used a flathead screwdriver to get it off but it wasn't easy. I know that piece snaps in because i got mine off. Maybe ask a Buick dealership or two until one of them has a good technique for popping it off. Mine was a bear.

Jam a screwdriver in horizontally at the latch until it wont go in anymore, then lift up the screwdriver and push it down while lifting up on the armrest. These armrests are junk, and it will break of completely. My advice: empty your belongings out of it and leave the stuck latch stuck with the arm rest permanently closed.
