Well that is a misconception because bananas rippen based on the amout of ethlyene gas present; usually not based on temperature. So if you don't want your bananas to rippen fast than keep them away from each other because fruits make their own ethlyene gas. That is where the saying "one bad apple spoils the bunch" comes from.
