New batteries almost always come fully charged. If it was not then charge it with a battery charger and do not use your vehicle alternator to charge a dead battery. You may do harm to the alternator which is not built to charge a dead battery but is instead built to keep a good battery fully charged.

How long do you run your car after a a car jump?

I assume you mean how long to charge the battery. You should never let the alternator charge a dead battery if possible. The alternator is designed to keep the battery charged but not to charge a dead battery. You put a strain on the alternator and it can cause a diode to burn out. Drive home and then put a battery charger on the battery to fully charge it.

Why will the battery not run out if the head lights are on when the car is on a long journey at night?

Because even though the electronics in the car run off the battery the alternator is constantly putting a charge back in the battery as long as the engine is running.

Why does my 1994 Camaro battery go dead every four days if the engine hasn't been running?

Your battery is going bad and something may be draining the battery. If you have a weak battery, it will lose charge. The car charges your battery when you run it and if you dont run it, it will go dead. If your car dies while running, in that case you might need a new alternator.

What happens if you don't charge a car battery?

How do you charge a boat battery?

The same way you charge a car battery. The only difference in them is that the marine battery is a deep cycle battery, meaning it is designed to be run completely down without damaging the battery. Ideally you need a charger designed to charge deep cycle batteries but you can charge one with a normal battery charger.

Can you jump start a car with a flat battery?

Yes, but you will have to connect the jumper cables and let the donor car run for about 15 minutes to get enough charge in the dead battery so it will start the car.

How long to run your car battery after jump charging?

It is best to drive home and put a battery charger on the battery and let it fully charge. Letting it charge with the alternator puts a strain on the alternator and should be avoided if possible. But if you have no charger then you will need to let the engine run for around 30 minutes to charge the battery enough so that it will start the next morning. It will take a couple of hours of driving to fully charge the battery.

Is a Chevy volt an electric car?

The Chevy volt car is an electric car but not fully because the battery only goes for 25-50 miles per charge. After that, a gasoline engine starts and produces energy for the electric battery to run the car. Gas is only used after the battery is run down and can be charged again.

Why does my 2003 PT Cruiser jumpstart but dies when cable removed?

Because your alternator is bad, and the battery does not have enough power left in it to run the car. If you were to charge the battery for awhile, it will run until the battery is DEAD, then the car will die,,, No more juce left to run it that's all . OR the alternator belt is broken.

Can an alternator charge a car battery?

That is the purpose of an alternator. The keep the battery charged and to run all the electrics on the vehicle. However it is never a good idea to allow the alternator to charge a dead battery. This will put a strain on the alternator and may damage it.
