Some don't have wires, the coils are mounted direct to the spark plugs. Some have a dual spark plug design where the plug mounted coil also sparks another spark plug on the other side of the engine. Removint these spark plug wires will still allow the engine to run but will eventually ruin the coils. And the third type will not run with out wires.
perhaps you connected your spark plug wires incorrectly check your firing order if you crossed a couple of spark wires the engine may still run but very roughly also you may have spark plug wires that are not fully connected to the plug are you reusing the old plug wires may be time for a new set check connectors for corrosion recomend using high quality spark plug wires

you would follow the spark plaug wires from the disributor to the spark plug and replace it. Spark plug wires are different sizes in length depending on where they go. Also make sure they are in the right order or your engine might run rough.
